How Tiriig Combines Commercial Technology With Social Impact
We combine commercial technology work with the development of digital products that address practical challenges in the communities it serves
Tiriig Technology was built with a simple idea: technology can create commercial value while also being used to solve practical problems in the communities around us.
As a social enterprise, Tiriig works with businesses and institutions to design and develop digital solutions, while also investing part of its technical capacity into products that serve a wider social purpose.
Our commercial work includes software development, applied AI, cybersecurity, and digital platforms for organizations that need technology to improve how they operate. This work helps Tiriig build a sustainable company, strengthen our technical team, and continue investing in new ideas.
At the same time, some of the products we build are designed around challenges that may not always have an immediate commercial return.
One example is the Somaliland Constitution App, which Tiriig developed in 2020 to make the constitution easier to access through mobile technology. The app has reached more than 40,000 people and continues to be maintained by Tiriig as part of our contribution to civic technology.
Another example is Xisnul Muslim, an Islamic app that gives users access to duas and other useful Islamic guidance. Today, the platform serves around 100,000 active users worldwide.
More recently, Tiriig developed Beeroole, a digital agriculture platform designed to support smallholder farmers with market prices, weather information, early warnings, agricultural guidance, and AI-powered crop disease detection.
These products are different in purpose, but they are connected by the same approach: identify a real problem, understand how people experience it, and use technology where it can genuinely make access to information or services easier.
This model also shapes how we think about growth.
For Tiriig, commercial success and social impact are not separate activities. Revenue from our commercial work helps us maintain the team, strengthen our technical capacity, and continue developing solutions that may serve communities where traditional technology business models are difficult to apply.
We also believe that social-impact technology should be built with the same level of care as commercial products. It should be useful, reliable, accessible, and designed around the realities of the people who use it.
As Tiriig continues to grow, we plan to keep this balance at the center of the company: building strong digital solutions for businesses and institutions while continuing to invest our skills and capacity in technology that serves communities.
