The problem on the table
Many small businesses rely on handwritten records or informal methods to track sales, expenses and customer credit. This can make it difficult for business owners to maintain clear financial records and understand how their business is performing. The challenge was to build a simple system that could fit naturally into how small businesses operate, including businesses where internet access may not always be reliable.
What we did about it
The solution we built for them
Tiriig designed and developed Hafide as a mobile-first bookkeeping platform for small businesses. It brings income, expenses and customer credit records into one system and supports offline use so businesses can continue recording transactions without a constant internet connection.
The platform was later expanded with AI-powered financial insights, giving business owners another way to understand their records and ask questions about their business data.

What it changed
Outcome
Hafide gave small businesses a structured way to move everyday financial records from informal bookkeeping into a digital system they could access from their phones. The platform has been used by more than 3,000 SMEs and has also gained recognition through the UNDP Timbuktoo Fintech Accelerator and the AfCFTA Digital Innovation Challenge.
